Hmmm… so how do I start? Well it all started 2 days earlier when a marwari lady came home to adorn my hands with awesome mehendhi. Yes that gave a good start to the engagement ceremony. On the D day I had to get up at 4 as the beautician said she will be home around 5 to help me get ready at 6:30. My god!! One and a half hour of make-up and hair-do. But to tell you the truth after that I did not look like me!! I stood in front of a mirror and saw a cute young lady so pretty and nice!! Was it me?? I still cant believe. Hats off to my beautician for making me so pretty! Perhaps I don’t mind getting myself painted so much, once in a life-time event yaar?? How can I be ordinary?
So after the painting of the face I started off to the engagement hall. My mom-in-law welcomed me with arathi. I tried to get a glimpse of my hubby but couldn’t find him though!! Would he have also looked out for me? Hope so!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the way the photographer asked me to give various poses… it made me feel I am the heroine of the day! But frankly speaking he did a good job of portraying me in my best.
Though the ceremony did not have many events… it just acted as a platform to both introducing each other to our relatives. This helped me to be at ease. And the scrumptious lunch that followed acted as a good way to end it all!!
Thus the D day came to an end with both of us saying bye to each other.
But more excitement awaited me the next day. Prabhu and I went out for lunch to rain forest followed by shopping to Pondy bazaar!! As most of you know will I come empty handed if I go to Pondy bazar? No way!! I got a salwar and a ring and I already went there with a shirt and card for him!! It was a nice experience to go around in the two-wheeler with slight drizzle!!!
Prabhu came home the next day for lunch which meant I had to cook. So the menu had alu fry, carrot sambar, paal payasam, vadai, cucumber raitha, tomato rasam, chow chow kootu. I made all except payasam and vadai. I could see a huge sigh of relief in his face “ thank god my wife knows to cook!!” poor guy it must definitely have tasted good to him as I am sure it was much better than his hotel food at chattisgarh!!
He told me before coming that if only my rasam was nice he will write a will changing all his property to my name and while leaving he told me he will meet me with a bond paper next time….. That says it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurray I passed the test ;-)
