Awesome Trip
It was a very nice time I got to spend with my family after a many months as each one of us being busy with our own routine and we realized how important it is to communicate and keep the relationship alive…. And it would be a welcome measure if this time spent together would be at a new destination where we forget the routine affairs our life and be how we wish to be for ten days at a stretch! Yes. We were into vacation mode again!
My trip to Thane was just wonderful, though I have been there 6 years back this one was very special as it happened to be during the fag end of the year where u experience the cold weather along with the mist.
This particular article is more of info on the places I saw as heard from the people who reside there with little of my experiences too. Hope it would be a good learning to all of u.
Thane originally known as 'Sristhanaka' (residence of Lord Ganesh) Thane is located to the North of Mumbai (Bombay, Maharashtra, India). Although being a district place, the city has always been shadowed by the existence of the metropolis just on its outskirts. Spanned over an area of about 147 km².The city is surrounded by scenic hills, which add to its beauty. The Hill of Yeoor is considered to be the hill station for the Thaneyites. On the other hand is the Parsik Hill.

First of all the apartment (my cousin’s) in which I lived was one of its kind I have never seen before… situated right under a beautiful mountain, with lots of lush green areas and a huge playground with a club house consisting of swimming pool, gym, tennis court!! My god! What a beauty it was to see hills from the balcony as soon as u get up every morning!! As you can imagine the views are stunning!
The darshan at Shiridi was a very pleasant one though it was a tedious journey of 6 hour travel in the car from thane… we did not feel the crux of it due to the drive along the mountain and the smooth roads with loud music something that I longed to experience.
Then we went to the Mahalakshmi temple. The Mahalaxmi Temple sits atop a long flight of steps on the edge of the Arabian on the northern side of Malabar hills, is one of the most sacred temples in Mumbai. The temple enshrines three dieties namely Lakshmi, Kali and Saraswati. However, the principal diety is goddess lakshmi and hence the name Mahalakshmi temple the Goddess of Wealth, and Lady Lucre to millions of adoring Indians. The Temple contains images of Goddess Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswathi. All three images are adorned with nose rings, gold bangles and pearl necklaces
The shrine has a curious history. It is said that in the 1890s, when the adjoining causeway was being constructed by a British engineer, the project was always jinxed: every time the foundation was laid, the sea would rush in and destroy it. Then one night, a labourer dreamt of Goddess Laxmi who ordered him to dig out an idol from a spot under the causeway and build a shrine on it. This was done with due alacrity, and the causeway was ultimately completed. You can just sit outside the temple and spend hours watching the sea. It’s very pleasant.
Our next place of visit was the Sidhi Vinayak temple. Siddhi Vinayak is temple devoted to Ganesh, the elephant-headed God of Good Fortune is located at Prabhadev in Mumbai. Temples dedicated to Ganesh are very famous as Shree Ganesh is the first to be worshipped before beginning any new project or venture as he Vighnaharta, the destroyer of obstacles. This beautiful temple is situated at Prabhadevi area of Mumbai, this popular temple dedicated to Ganesh was rebuilt on the site of a 200-year old temple. Ganapati here is depicted with four arms bearing a lotus, an axe, modakas and a garland of beads, flanked by his consorts Siddhi and Buddhi.
And who will definitely miss the The Gateway of India and the Marine Drive?
The Gateway of India is meant to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, prior to the Darbar in Delhi in December 1911. The Gateway is built from yellow Kharodi basalt and reinforced concrete. The central dome is 48 feet in diameter and 83 feet above ground at its highest point. The whole harbour front was realigned in order to come in line with a planned esplanade which would sweep down to the centre of the town
Though we took a bunch of pictures in my digicam, believe me the Polaroid has its own charm for which I am very much crazy about!
Marine Drive, with its clean sweep along the bay from Nariman Point to Malabar Hill is a major traffic link. The wide pedestrian area next to the sea-wall, and the breath-taking view over the bay, makes this one of Bombay's most well-known public spaces. Marine Drive also called the queen's Necklace, when seen from above the numerous street lights like a strand of glittering jewels.
Last but not the least.. How can I not say about the shopping experience!! When I went to Thane last time I used to look into my dads face and interpret whether he approves or not to buy something… though he never refused mostly. But this time with me managing my own income and expenses just went beyond and shopped only to realize that it was a bit tooo much after the bill was seen!!
Lastly my makeover…. This trip has changed my outfit my long time desire of wearing pants came alive and I have cut my hair half….. For those who know me for a long time this will definitely be a tremendous change in my attitude… isn’t it? Do visit the below link for pics

That brought to an end, a pleasant, quiet and scenic days of my trip. We had a wonderful, very relaxed trip.
